Annafré Louw | Founder | Interior Design & Decoration

Annafré founded FREA Interiors with an instinctive understanding of how spaces are lived in. Trained in interior architecture, her work balances structure with softness, guided by a close attention to materials, joinery, furnishings and light. She begins each project by listening, learning how clients move through their homes and what matters to them day to day, and using this insight to shape spaces that feel intuitive and personal.

Guided by a strong sense of spatial hierarchy and careful detailing, Annafré creates interiors that feel grounded, considered, and enduring.

Michael Louw | Architecture, Detail & On-Site Coordination

Michael brings a grounded, architectural sensibility to the studio, with a particular focus on how spaces are made. Trained as an architect, his experience spans both design and fabrication, including time spent working within a Cape Town joinery workshop. This hands-on understanding informs the way projects are detailed and delivered, helping translate design intent into built form with clarity and care.

Michael works closely with contractors and makers throughout each project, guiding work from early planning through to completion, with a steady focus on craft, coordination, and build quality.

A Shared Place

Annafré and Michael studied together at the University of Pretoria before moving to Cape Town, where they built their careers across architecture and interior design. Over time, their shared values and complementary skill sets led to the formation of FREA Interiors as a joint practice. Working closely together, they bring a considered and highly personal approach to each project, balancing creative vision with technical understanding to shape spaces that feel resolved, purposeful and connected to the people who live and work within them.
